Research shows that parent/guardian involvement at school has a positive impact on students' education. Each family houshold is suggested to contribute 30 hours of community service per school year to the Westside Campus. A suggested benchmark is 10 hours per trimester. Hours can be acquired by volunteering at school functions, assisting teachers (e.g., grading papers, fundraising and making copies), and chaperoning during field trips. The donation of cash, instructional supplies, food items and/or decorations for a school function can fulfill some parent hours. A maximum of 10 hours can be earned by donating up to $100 ($10 per hour x 10 hours.) Receipts must be attached to the Parent Participation Hour Report Form to receive credit.
On the Parent Participation Hours Report Form, parents/guardians will be required to submit a detailed list of hours/activities. The student will turn-in the completed Parent Participation Hour Form to their homeroom teacher prior to the end of each grading period. (See calendar for specific dates.) Each family is responsible for recording their own participation hours/activities.
